What to ask before booking

If you want to understand vineyard work, choose a walk with time for questions about the plot and season. To learn about winemaking, ask for a cellar visit; to compare wines, check the actual tasting programme. These activities can complement one another, but confirm which are included before booking.

For a group, give the number of participants and access requirements relevant to planning without unnecessary medical details. Confirm the meeting point and bad-weather arrangements.

First tasting references

Start with your own words. Look at the colour, smell, then describe one simple impression: fruit, freshness, texture or oak. Ask the guide how that impression relates to the wine being shown. If you taste, ask for a spittoon; taking part does not oblige you to drink.

Ask about grapes, vintage, winemaking and storage. Vocabulary develops through observation; it is not an examination.

In the vineyard

Ask before leaving the path, touching vines or picking grapes. Wear suitable shoes and follow the estate’s instructions. A working vineyard is an agricultural workplace.

Arrange your return journey before tasting and keep an alcohol-free option. The organiser should explain which activities are available to minors.

Wine and truffle discovery

At Domaine Les Hermessaines, wine tourism takes the form of a walk through the vines at €20 including VAT per person, per hour, to discover grapes, wines and terroir. Enquiries are welcome now; each activity requires an advance quotation suited to party size and season, followed by a confirmed appointment.
