Truffle hunting and discovery for chefs and restaurant teams.

Our three-hour workshop in Suze-la-Rousse lets restaurant teams observe truffle hunting with dogs, discuss product choices for their service and join a tasting. Bring your menu or an idea for a dish: your questions give the conversation with the growers a practical focus.

Duration
3 hours
Individual price
€99 per person including tax
Location

Private truffle hunt with Lala and our guests, 16 December 2025.

From the grove to decisions at service

A cook, a front-of-house team member and a buyer have different priorities. These are topics to discuss during your visit, according to your role.

From the grove to decisions at service
What you observe or discussThe question to take back to your business
The dogs searching and the hunter’s actionsHow can we explain truffle hunting to a guest, distinguishing it from growing or preparing truffles?
The season, maturity and species of the available batchWhat product can we name on our menu, at what time of year and with which provenance details?
The weight, shape and preparation of piecesDoes our dish need even slices, chopped truffle or several smaller pieces?
The aroma at the tasting and storage adviceHow should we plan receiving, storage and the point at which we use it in our recipe?

Five questions before your first batch

Bring this list to the workshop or use it to prepare a supplier enquiry. A good photograph or a price per kilo does not answer these questions.

  1. Which species is being sold and which origin is documented for this batch?
  2. What harvest and preparation information can accompany the order?
  3. What net weight and pieces are offered for my intended kitchen use?
  4. When can we receive the product, and which storage instructions will be supplied?
  5. What is the full quotation, including any charges, and how should we handle a discrepancy on arrival?

Choose your team’s focus

Kitchen and catering

Bring your number of covers, planned dish and recipe portion weight. We can discuss these choices; this three-hour introduction does not include a practical cooking class or validation of your recipe.

Front of house and guest welcome

Start with your guests’ questions: where do truffles come from, how do dogs find them and what does the species name mean? Observing the hunt provides facts for explaining the search.

Purchasing and management

Specify your service calendar, anticipated quantities and receiving requirements. Discovering the grove can precede a product trial; workshop and supply arrangements are quoted separately.

Arrange your professional visit

Programme
Three hours: welcome, discovery of the grove, dogs searching according to the season, discussion and a tasting. Tasting details are specified before confirmation.
Price and group size
The individual rate is €99 per person including tax. Reduced group pricing is quoted according to numbers and programme. Up to 40 people, including adults and children; the total is confirmed before commitment.
Season and weather
Black truffle hunting is planned in winter, subject to maturity and availability. The search guarantees neither a harvest nor a take-home quantity. Visits are cancelled in rain; check the arrangements agreed when booking.
Meeting point and access
Visits to Suze-la-Rousse are by appointment only. The precise meeting point is shared individually after confirmation. Tell us in advance about mobility requirements, coach transport and your preferred language so we can check what is possible.
Purchases and wine
Truffle and wine purchases are optional and separate from admission. Subject to availability, participants may buy truffles found at €900/kg including tax, with a minimum truffle purchase of €50 and a limit of 100 g per person. At this rate, 60 g costs €54 including tax. Wine tasting, if arranged, is for adults; a non-alcoholic alternative is offered.

See a visit that actually took place

Our report from 16 December 2025 shows Pascale, Lala and the guests during a private truffle hunt. It illustrates the search and the group’s participation. The programme of this past session does not promise a harvest on your next visit.

Prepare your kitchen team’s questions

These guides complement the visit. They help frame a specific buying or service question rather than searching for one quantity that works for every dish.

Would you also like to meet a supplier?

A visit offers time to get acquainted and discuss your intended uses. It does not reserve a professional batch. For a trial or supply order, request availability, weight, origin, professional price and collection or delivery terms separately. Arrangements are reviewed in a quotation before ordering.

Questions from professionals

Is this discovery visit suitable for a restaurant team?

Yes. Chefs, caterers, buyers and front-of-house teams can request a three-hour introduction. Specify your role and questions to prepare the conversation about hunting, the product and its uses.

Is this accredited training or a cooking class?

It is an introduction in the grove with dogs searching, discussion and a tasting. No qualification or certification is advertised, and the session does not include a practical cooking class.

Can we visit without ordering truffles?

Yes. The workshop and purchases are separate. There is no obligation to buy truffles or wine afterwards; professional supply enquiries are handled separately.

Can our team visit privately rather than on a calendar date?

Enquire with your preferred period, numbers and requirements. Private visits are considered by quotation, for up to 40 adults and children in total. Date, programme, language and full price are confirmed before booking.

Can we learn about recognising truffle quality during the visit?

Start with six points to discuss: species, maturity, aroma, condition of the pieces, net weight and batch identification. Ask which harvest, provenance and preparation details are available. The restaurant buying guide linked above helps you describe your needs and prepare for delivery. The workshop is an introduction and does not provide product certification.

A team, a date and practical questions.

Tell us your business, group size, preferred period and focus: a menu product, guest explanations or an initial supply enquiry. We clarify feasibility and the quotation before confirming your visit.
