When should you visit Richerenches’ market?

The truffle market takes place on Saturday mornings during the winter season. Check opening and closing dates for the season you plan to visit: consult the town hall and Point Infos Richerenches before travelling. Their publications also provide detailed times and any changes.

Two areas: retail sales and professional trading

Where you should arrive depends on your purchase. For a truffle to cook at home, look for the retail area. Professionals buying batches should find the market suited to their business. The town hall distinguishes the following two areas.

  1. Avenue de la Rabasse: retail truffle sales and local produce.
  2. Cours du Mistral: professional market trading.

Plan your arrival and journey back

Locate Avenue de la Rabasse if you are buying retail. Check local traffic and parking instructions for your date, then allow time to walk to the market. For a group visit or particular access requirements, ask Point Infos for practical information before coming. Choosing the right area first avoids searching for a retail seller among professional transactions.

Questions to ask before buying

Prepare your recipe, number of guests and meal date. The market’s location does not establish a batch’s origin: ask the seller for this and the species name. To compare offers, price the same quantity and format. A wholesale trading price does not automatically describe the price of a selected retail truffle.

  1. Species and origin: which truffle is offered and where is this batch from?
  2. Net weight and total price: what will the pieces chosen for your meal cost?
  3. Storage and transport: how should you keep these truffles until cooking?

Buy from La Truffe française

La Truffe française does not have a stall in Richerenches. To buy from the House, make a separate order enquiry: fresh black Tuber melanosporum truffles are offered from €60 including tax per 50 g, depending on the batch and availability. The minimum order is €50 of truffles excluding delivery; this is an amount, not a weight of 50 g. This is the House’s offer, not Richerenches’ market trading price.

Tell us your meal date, preferred quantity and whether you would like collection by appointment or delivery. The batch, net weight, price and handover arrangements are confirmed before payment. Delivery is at your expense, with charges and timing specified before confirmation. An online enquiry does not automatically confirm an order or a meeting on market day.

Continue with a truffle hunt in Suze-la-Rousse

The market shows trading and the batches offered for sale. To discover the search with a dog, the House runs a three-hour workshop in Suze-la-Rousse at an individual rate of €99 including tax per person. The programme combines a grove visit, winter truffle hunting and tasting. The date, meeting point and programme are confirmed in a quotation before booking. The search depends on natural conditions; no harvest is guaranteed.

To combine both activities, include your date, group size and market visit in the quotation enquiry. Timings and travel must fit the confirmed meeting; market and workshop are arranged separately. Private groups and employee committees receive a tailored quotation. Truffle purchases after the session are optional and separate from the workshop price.

Plan quantities and storage

Choose your dish first: the right weight depends on the recipe. As a guide, our scrambled eggs for four use 20 g of truffle, while our risotto for four uses 30 to 40 g. Our quantity guide helps adapt these recipes to your guests. Ask the seller how to store the chosen batch and arrange transport before continuing your day; our storage guide helps you prepare the meal after returning.

What about Sunday in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux?

Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux’s retail market takes place on Place de l’Esplan every Sunday from late November to mid-March, 9 am to noon, according to the market hours provided by La Truffe française. We attend it: contact us to confirm when we will next be there and prepare your purchase. Our Saint-Paul guide helps you plan; the Drôme Provençale markets guide compares regional stops, and the wholesale or retail guide helps you choose the right buying format.
