Stays and discovery
Le Mas d’Eylieux in Saint-Montan for a stay around truffle discovery
Six independent gîtes in Saint-Montan and a warm welcome from Pascale, for a longer stay around truffle discovery in Drôme provençale.

After a visit to the truffle grove, you may feel like staying a little longer: taking time to explore a village, sharing dinner and enjoying more of the region. To help you plan that escape, we recommend Le Mas d’Eylieux in Saint-Montan, in southern Ardèche. Pascale Ozil, your host at the Mas, welcomes you to a 40-hectare estate with six self-contained gîtes, sleeping 25 guests in total.

A day discovering truffles in Drôme provençale
Staying at Le Mas d’Eylieux lets you combine a few days in southern Ardèche with a truffle experience in Drôme provençale. The estate also introduces our work in its article about truffle hunting with La Truffe française.
In Suze-la-Rousse, the team at La Truffe française introduces you to the work of a truffle dog, the search beneath the trees and the techniques used to unearth truffles, before rounding off the experience with a tasting. Winter truffle hunting generally runs from November to March, starting in mid- or late November depending on truffle ripeness and ground conditions. Dates and the programme are confirmed before your visit; finding truffles is never guaranteed. Check the truffle-hunting calendar and workshop programme to choose when to visit.
Résonance and Le Trésor de Fripon were enjoyed with our guests. These two labels of the same red Côtes-du-Rhône are part of our selection of wines from old vines in the Drôme to accompany your truffles.
Accommodation and the workshop must be booked separately, directly with each provider. Travel between the Mas and the meeting point must be arranged separately and is included in neither the accommodation nor the workshop.

Pascale and the pleasure of welcoming guests
What we particularly appreciate about Pascale is her kindness and warm welcome. She brings an easy, friendly touch to conversations that is especially welcome when you are planning a few days away. She is one of the reasons we want to share this address with you.
At Le Mas d’Eylieux, Pascale lives on site and looks after the gîtes herself. She answers enquiries and prepares the accommodation. Whether you are a couple, a family or a group of friends travelling together, speaking to the person who knows the estate makes planning easier. You can tell her what you have in mind, who will be travelling with you and what matters most to you.
Stone and gardens at Le Mas d’Eylieux
The Mas has the charm of a place whose details catch your eye: a stone porch, a terrace, olive trees and the surrounding hills. The gardens and outdoor spaces invite you to leave a little room for relaxation in your plans. A morning of sightseeing can be followed by a quiet spell at the estate, without feeling the need to fill every hour of your stay.
The 10-by-5-metre outdoor pool is enjoyed in a different season from winter truffle hunting: it is generally open from mid-May to September, weather permitting. It is shared by guests staying in the gîtes and becomes exclusive to your group when you book the whole estate. Explore the estate’s spaces.

Choose your gîte and plan your stay
The accommodation units sleep between two and seven guests, with a total capacity of 25 guests. Each has its own kitchen, toilet and shower. This independence lets you keep your own routines while enjoying a holiday together.
La Maisonnette may suit a getaway for two, while Les Figuiers sleeps four for a family stay. If you are travelling with a larger group, compare the beds and room layouts before choosing several gîtes.
For a family reunion, a birthday or a few days away with friends, separate gîtes offer a practical advantage: everyone has their own accommodation, and the group chooses when to spend time together. Subject to availability, you can rent several gîtes or ask about booking the whole estate exclusively.
The accommodation is self-catering: you arrange your own meals and breakfasts. For shared meals, the spaces and how they may be used should be agreed with Pascale. Let her know your dates, the number of guests and the accommodation you are interested in. She can explain the sleeping arrangements, availability, rates and booking conditions. Compare the gîtes at Le Mas d’Eylieux in Saint-Montan.

Take a few days to explore the surrounding area
A stay of several nights also leaves time for Saint-Montan and the narrow streets of its medieval village. Depending on the season, your interests and how far you want to travel, you could add a walk along the trails, a village visit or a trip towards the Ardèche gorges. The Mas brings together ideas in its tips for exploring southern Ardèche.
For a three-day stay, you could use your arrival day to settle in and explore Saint-Montan, set aside one day for the truffle experience, then choose a final walk before leaving. This is a suggested pace to adapt with your hosts and the providers involved, taking schedules and travel times into account.
We recommend this address for its setting and Pascale’s warm welcome. If you enjoy holidays with time to gather around a table, discover the region and leave some freedom in your days, get in touch with her to plan your escape.
